Christchurch WAS suspicious (many do argue it was a false flag, complete with actors etc.) but what concerned me was the immediate and disproportionate response taken by NZ Government in relation to surveillance, online privacy and freedom of information, all under the guise of 'preventing a similar attack'. Well, we've all heard that one before. The police prosecutor told the court the offensive material included images of terrorists holding severed heads, and images that "promoted and glorified" the perpetrator of the 2019 Christchurch Mosque attacks. Well, those two cancel each other out entirely, so under what guise was he sent to an anti-terror youth reeducation program? Magistrate Adair noted the boy's interest in history but asked whether he now recognised that the images in his possession were "against the law". "It's just another part of history, in my opinion," the boy replied. What a badass kid.
